Why Not Donate "supplies" To A Shelter?

For those of you who have thought about burning tampons and pads, why not burn one or two items and donate the rest to a local women's shelter? I am sure the ladies there would appreciate the gesture.

Why Not Donate "supplies" To A Shelter?

I wondered about this too, as I bought a lot of supplies at Costco just before a Lupron shot in March removed the need for them (yay!). My question is, do the boxes have to be sealed? Or maybe just the contents individually wrapped? Some places have strict requirements about what they will accept and what condition it must be in. Anyone have any information?

If they won't accept them unsealed, how about a friend or neighbor who is short on cash due to unemployment, etc.?

That is a great idea!

I worked in a shelter for battered women and their children for many years and we operated on a really tight budget. In my experience, as long as they are individually wrapped, they would be most welcome.

There was a wonderful group of women in my community who made it their project to keep us stocked with little goodie bags full of individual toiletries to give each woman upon admission.
It was just a nice little extra and helped us insure that for the first night or so, our residents didn't have to figure out where all the shelter's supplies were.

You can always check with the shelter in your area to be sure, but I think it's likely to be a case of every little bit helps.
