I prefer my hormones in a patch or cream because that way they don't have to go through the digestive tract first. The fact that I need less hormone when I use a patch than a pill is proof enough for me. The oral equivalent for my estradiol patch is 10 times the dose that I am getting each day. That means that my digestive tract and liver have to deal with all that extra hormone. Someone else could tell you technically the difference in the way we process them through the skin and through the digestive tract. To me it is just common sense.
