Incisional hernia

Sisters, I need your help and advice.
I am 10 or 11 weeks post op TAHBSO with vertical incision. The incision became infected and I had to go to wound care for six weeks. I was discharged back to work March 12th. I have had painful swelling and felt and looked like I had a bowling ball in my stomach. I finally had CT yesterday afternoon and I have a large hernia around the incision--the gyn wanted to admit me to hospital last night, pump me full of antibiotics (he started me on some on Monday as he thought I might have an infection there which was causing the swelling) and have surgery done today. I talked him out of that--it is urgent but not an emergency. I will be seeing general surgeon at 9:45 on Monday to decide what to do and when it needs to be done.
Have any of you sisters had incisional hernias and if so, what was your experience? I am not looking forward to another surgery but I am looking forward to feeling better--I hurt now as much as I did when I came home from the hospital from the hysterectomy. I don't think this is as major a surgery but it still will be general anesthesia I'm sure (due to the size) and I don't know if it can be done lap or cutting open (I'm guessing it will be cut open again due to the size).
Help me sisters!
I live alone and won't have any real support in the house until the 21st--I had a friend stay with me for three weeks after hys. but she can't do that again. I have two dogs that will have to go to kennel until I get home again or the 21st when my significant other (he's been gone for 4 months) comes home.
I just feel plain lousy. Darn it anyway!
Thanks

Incisional hernia

Heimbca,
I haven't had that problem, but remember seeing threads for it a while back. Do a Thread search for the terms hernia and incision. You'll find lots. I do remember so of them doing a wait and see and some needing surgery. One of the hosts has quite a hernia story on here somewhere.

Good Luck and I'm sorry to hear you're having more problems, just when you thought you were clear free. LJC
