You are not alone! I had forgotten all about that bad taste, almost like a burnt taste. I think it only lasted a week or two & it was certainly the least of my worries throughout recovery. It sure is annoying when it's happening though. Good luck! Hopefully it's gone by now.

I am one week postop today from LAVH w/BSO. I havent' had a bad taste in my mouth, but my appetite is less than what it used to be. I have IV morhphine and antibiotics in the hospital. Since I've been home I only take Ibuprofen in the morning and lortab at bedtime. Antibiotics and pain meds do affect you sense of taste. I hope you're feeling better and in time the bad taste will go away.

My sense of taste was off for a week or two. I later heard someone call it "anesthesia metal mouth." It really affected the taste of acid foods, like orange juice or wine. Went away by itself.

I haven't had a bad taste, but food just doesn't appeal to me. I even left my cocoon on the couch a couple of weeks into recovery to wander the grocery store aisles hoping to see something that appealed to me, but no luck. I've tried all kinds of foods, but nothing hits the spot, so I'm just eating what I have to eat to be healthy and not worrying about the fact that I no longer enjoy eating. I'm sure my appetite will come back eventually.

Thanks sisters! The funny taste has finally gone away...I wish my appetite would too. LOL. I'm not eating quite like I did prior to surgery so that's good but I could cut back a bit more. Again, thanks to everyone!
