Swelly Belly!
I just worked my first three straight days back (6 hr shifts-desk job) work (4 total with the weekend off). Yesterday was a little rough. I was really tired and left a little early because I spotted a bit and was crampy. I found a couple stitches when I got home so I assumed that was the culprit and went back today.
I had a really good day today. I had a energy burst and did some light work out of the office. I came feeling greatly accomplished and 100 % back to normal.
I was talking to my daughter and changed clothes, wondering why my tshirt felt "snug " I looked down and couldn't do anything but laugh. I turned sideways and my daughter cracked up...I look six months pregnant!!
I wear scrubs to work so I hadn't really noticed much swelling and I felt so good it was just a huge surprise to look down at the blob that is usually my stomach...not that is it EVER tiny, but come on! LOL!
I'm glad we could all laugh about it. My husband told my daughter to be sure neither cat was missing (funny guy...grrr) and suggested I sleep with an ice pack tonight . Oh well, this too shall pass!

It's almost a year since my surgery, I'm still dealing with a swelling belly. Some days I look 9 months pregnant.

Re: Swelly Belly!
Oh dear, please...NON! One of the 101 reasons for me getting this surgery is that in the last year, I had swelly belly so bad at least 2 weeks a month, that it would push up against the diaphragm and I would get shortness of breath. It hasn't gotten that bad since the operation, but I was looking forward to getting a break from that.... oh well ! it will eventually go away, right ?

Re: Swelly Belly!
I sure hope this isn't still happening a year from now! LOL! I looked and felt like I was about to pop!
It was easy to laugh last night. I had just gotten home from work and knew I was off today. I was just so happy to know I can work and feel mostly normal again. Then to look down and see THAT?
It probably would not have been funny had I needed to slip into my regular street clothes and go somewhere, but it was well worth laughing over as I walked through the house in my night shirt and could carry my belly in my hands like I did when pregnant.
Having said that, I've had enough fun now. It can go away and stay away.

Swelly belly! Arrrgh. Does anyone know why it occurs and stays around so long after surgery? And does anyone also get twinges of pain when they over do it? It was so bad today I had to take an ibuprofen!

Re: Swelly Belly!
I'm so glad to read this. I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op. Just went back to work half days this week. Desk job. Monday was rough! The rest of the week was better. Didn't have swelly belly when I went in on Monday, but have had it since. Wondered if I was over doing it. I'm going to extend my hours by 2 next week. Does anyone know if I should slow it down? I don't want to undo any progress. Or is this just "normal" for a while. Thanks for any help.

Re: Swelly Belly!
Oh, great! Just when I thought things MUST get better for me for sure now (today's my 6 week milestone). Now I think I'm doomed to live with this hideous thing forever and I'll have burn all my jeans. Say it ain't so!
I always used to do a little 'tsk tsk' to myself when I'd see somebody in the lineup at the bank or grocery store wearing pajama pants. Just couldn't understand why some people are so lazy they can't even get dressed to go out. Now I think I'll be more sympathic...they might be hystersisters who just have nothing else to wear over swelly-belly !
