Help? enlarged uterus & cyst

I'm 46 yrs old and my gyn wants to do a complete histo. on me! Can't do some test do to scar adhessions from c-sections. But, he did a biopsy and was ok pap was ok also. But, he said my uterus is to large 11.6 and lining very thick,plus have a cyst on my right ovary. I don't bleed heavy just eratic,but to have pain in my back alot and now my periods are getting painful again like when I was a young girl. Just not sure what to do I would had to be cut across again because my uterus is so large! Any advice please!!!

I'm sorry you are having trouble and facing a possible hysterectomy. I'm glad your biopsy & pap were okay. Have you had an ultrasound or MRI or anything to explain what is causing your uterus to be enlarged, or your symptoms? A 2nd or 3rd opinion is always a good idea with any major medical condition, so I hope you can look into that as well. You are worth it.

We've got similar issues. Definitely get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. It's amazing to me how different doctors can have such diverse opinions. I've seen two doctors (besides my PCP) and I'm also going to see a 3rd on 4/9 (my tumor is small and we're watching it for growth right now.) I've also got an enlarged ut. and thickened endomet. but I was told it's not that unusual if you are still menstruating.

1st doc wanted to take it all out. 2nd doc (gyn/onc) wants to monitor for 2 more cycles and then sched. lap. to biopsy and clean out nasty old c-section gunk. I am still going to 3rd (gyn/onc) but will probably put my fate into hands of the 2nd -- he was informative, interested in my case and is the most up-to-date on procedures, etc.

It is scary but know that you are not alone -- it has really helped me to read other women's experiences.
