Persistent pelvic pain 3 months post hysterectomy
My TAH was 2/3. Before my discharge from the hospital, I was having terrible pain when urinating. They did a urine culture and put me on antibiotics. The pain has persisted. I've had a fistula study, a CT, and a kidney MRI/A to rule out pilonephritis and renal infarct. I've been through 3 courses of Bactrim and one of Cipro. Today I had an appointment with an infectious disease specialist (referred by the nephrologist, who I was referred to by my Gyn surgeon). They think I have scar tissue and I just have to live with it. I think they're wrong - would scar tissue pop up so quickly after surgery? The pain started 4 days post op. My urine cultures have come back with a host of bacteria, so they think they're contaminated. Wouldn't it be odd to have consistently contaminated urine cultures?
I can't deal with the idea of having to live with a pain that feels like someone is stabbing me in the pelvis every time I pee. Help sisters!!!

Persistent pelvic pain 3 months post hysterectomy
I had something similar a few years ago the doctors kept bouncing me back and forth. I had bacteria in my urine and one was a rare bacteria. They didn't get aggressive with the treatment. It damaged my bladder permanently, I ended up with interstitial cystitis. I was delirious for 3 days 104 temp. My poor DH had no idea what to do with me. Thank goodness I lived with interstitial cystitis I think a little over a year it was a severe kind. But God touched me and I got a complete healing. you are your best advocate! Demand answers and don't let them make light of this. will be praying.

Are you being followed by a urologist? Have they tried more antibiotics?
