Scared! Monday is almost here!

I'm 33 years old and a having the da Vinci assisted hysterectomy on Monday, july 16th. They are leaving my ovaries if they can, but that depends on how bad my endo is. I'm do scared, anxious, overwhelmed, nervous.. You name it. I'm more scared of the operation and what could happen on the table. I'm trying to give it all to God, but I am only human, so I still am fearful. I am; however, excited about no more painful periods and being able to play with my kids without peeing on myself from running or jumping. I know that I really need this surgery, but I feel so helpless and scared right now.

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

I'm having a LAVH, and mine is scheduled on Monday too. I couldn't agree more about being anxious, and nervous. As the day gets closer I find myself very distracted and unable to focus on much. I hope everything goes well for you Monday. I start my bowel prep tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it.

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

Ladies I was the same way. I am 4 days post op and as of right now the prep has been by far the worst thing. After recovery you should ask your nurse what are your scheduled timed for pain meds because you wont get it unless you ask for it.The reason I say ask is because if you take your meds on time before the pain starts it will help greatly.Start gas x on your own also this helps a few days post op.
Remember everyone is different and all responses are different. If you run into a stump post your concerns on here these ladies are amazingly helpful..

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

Good luck on your surgery ladies. And remember, you only get one chance to recover correctly. So listen to your doctor and the nurses. Whatever restrictions they give you, follow.
So many women will tell you that healing is a long process, it doesn't happen in a few days. No one is Superwoman, and the thousands of women on this site are not wrong in saying it takes weeks to recover.
We are here to guide you every step of the way.

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

A am post op and felt the same way - SCARED. I look back and am sooooo very glad I went through with it. I can't tell you how great it feels (even with post surgical soreness and some pain) not to have the pressure, the constanbt pelvic pain, the constant feeling of having to pee, the constipation. Am I sore? - yes. Was it rough - at times (yes). You are stronger then you think. Have good questions. Ask everything you need to ask. Plan and prepare. The more you do the more empowered you feel. You'll do fine. I do believe this surgery has high success rates although I am not sure. A lot of women on here are glad that they did this. It is your body and your right to decide to or not to do this. I wasted time but can't undo that either. I am just glad I can get on with lif eand feel better. PS: Learn deep breathing and relaxation - it will help

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

It is only natural for us to feel scared. I am trying to convince myself that this time on Monday I will be starting my recovery. That way I am not concentrating on the surgery itself. The surgery is what actually scares me because that is out of my control. I wish mine was earlier, I will have too much time Monday morning to stress out. I don't have to be at the castle until 11.

Hugs!

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

Just wanted to reach out and tell you I understand. It is scary. Even when we give it to God, it is still a really big deal. I have my TAH on Tuesday. Have a couple of my grandkids for the weekend so it is good and keeping my mind off of it for now.

Will be thinking about you...this is hard.

Re: Scared! Monday is almost here!

I know it's very scary and no matter what anyone says, you'll still be scared. I know I was terrified but like lovely lady lumps said, I'm very happy I had my surgery. Best wishes and soon you'll be on the other side!!
