Post Hysterectomy Swelling / bulging

Hi all, I'm new and first time visitor. I am 6 days post op. Surgery was on the 7th. Prior to surgery I had a severely prolapsed uterus and always had "something" hanging in my lady parts causing incredible discomfort amongst other complications. My question or concern today is that I even though I'm still fairly fresh into recovery, I feel a bulge like something is still hanging down and causing discomfort. Is this swelling or should I already be concerned with a prolapsed vagina or something? I'm scheduled for the doc next week but I'm a little freaked out.

Re: Post Op Swelling/bulging

You didn't say which type of surgery you had, but it seems fairly common with vaginal surgery to feel swollen down below right after surgery. Some sisters have likened it to a stuck tampon.

There is so much swelling and inflammation in the early days/weeks after surgery, but it will subside in time.

If you're really worried, it's always worth a quick phone call to your doctor.
