I am schedualed for a hyst Aug 30

I am schedualed for an abdominal hyst Aug 30th, the dr is leaving my ovaries. I have had excessive bleeding ever since i have had my periods they come 2-3 times per month. I have a clotting condition that doesnt allow me to take any kind of hormonal treatment. i have had an endometrial ablation that didnt help me, i have also numerous D&C's.I am looking for someinsight on what to expect, how did others feel after the hyst, also i would like to know others recovery times. Any info anyone could provide me would be wonderful!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Angelbrats,

Welcome to this site. I'm sorry that you've had to go through so much at such a young age. It's a good thing that your doctor is able to leave your ovaries.

What kind of clotting condition do you have? Do you also have fibroids?

You have some good questions, make sure to put those on your list for your doctor. The average recovery for work purposes are normally 6-8 weeks. Many of the women feel totally back to normal 4 months up to a year. Alot depends on the surgery, the symptoms, the age etc.

This site has some wonderful information at the beginning on the home page. Here you will scroll down and find Menus of different topics. If you run into a question, use your search button at the top of the page to read past conversations on a topic. There is so much to do here! There is also alot to expect. So keep a notebook close to the computer and as the sisters reply to you and as you read other threads take notes on everything from "gas relief" to "pain relief".

Again, Welcome

Hi Angelbrats!

Maralyn is such a wise sister that I have very little to add, except to welcome you to Hyster Sisters and to tell you that, at 9 weeks post-op, I am finally pain-free and back to my 'normal' life with renewed energy.

I'm so glad that you found us. It can be such a stressful and confusing time while you await your surgery date. Read lots here and post your questions and concerns. You can count on your new sisters to support you every step of the way.
