depression

I am two weeks out of surgery and have been having a very difficult time. I was able to keep one ovary but dr. did test hormone level tests on Friday to see if that was a problem. The depression/anxiety came on after the surgery, although I was very anxious before surgery. I am on some meds to help with depression but this has been very scary and I just want to start feeling better emotionally. Physically, I have done great! I have a lot of support from husband and family but the blues are so strong right now. Any other stories like this? Thanks for your help!

depression

My surgery was two days before yours and i've felt the same way. I have congestive heart failure and i've struggled with depression from getting it at such a young age (only 28). I thought since keeping both ovaries I wouldn't suffer from the mood swings but I have... my husband actually took 2 weeks off and has been God sent (for once ) and i'm still upset. I really want to get out of this house and get on with life, i've spent so much time laying down because of my heart so dealing with the TAH has been difficult.

I pray a lot and that seems to help me out A LOT! I also talk to my DH and my BF (best friend) about how i'm feeling. Try not to hold anything in, even if you just write in a journal get all of your feelings out... and know this...

IT WILL GET BETTER!!!!

depression

Thanks so much, I have been praying a lot and I will include you in my prayers. I know this will pass, but as you said, I am ready to get on with life. I just didn't even think about depression when I made the decision to have the surgery. I have a lot of wonderful friends and I am counting on them right now, I hope you can do the same!

depression

This was my 10th surgery and I was absolutely shocked how emotionally unstable I was! I yelled and cried for 1/2 hour because no one had changed my garbage bag beside my bed!!
I was soooo down and depressed when I got an infection in my incision and had to deal with that for 7.5 weeks. I know that contributed, but that first 3 weeks I was so unstable my Mom wanted me to get anti-depressants. I opted to wait it out, but asked friends and family to never leave me alone. I couldn't believe I was so tired, scared, sad, angry, anxious, panicky and basically out of control!! Then at about day 17 or 18 I woke up, had a shower & got dressed and then walked around my yard. I was back! It was literally a 180 and I felt balanced and in control. Hang in there, lean on your friends & family and visit here!

See you sound so much better already. You just keep praying and talking things out and as the other sister said in this thread one day you'll wake up and do a complete one eighty and be back happy and healthy. Also try to think about all of the good things that will come out of this surgery... read the great thread here entitled "white pants". Focus on the positives and hang in there my prayers are with you as well.
