A really great doctor

I am really lucky I have such a NICE doctor as well as a skilled doctor.

My surgery is 8/5 and I had my pre-op yesterday. Since then I have been feeling much more anxious. I had alot of trouble sleeping last night and kept waking up feeling like I was having bad dreams. This morning I had to go to the hospital to get a blood test so I just stopped by the doctor's office and told the receptionist that I was starting to have a hard time and I asked if maybe the doctor could talk to me for a few minutes about the anxiety etc.

The nurse came right out and had me come back to his office. After about 10 minutes he came to talk to me and it was very helpful. He kept telling me that the part I was reponsible for (picking the doctor, deciding on the surgery etc.) was pretty much over and now it was his turn to carry the burden of responsibility. I just need to show up at the hospital at the right time. It was a helpful way for me to look at it. I asked him if he could worry for me too and he said he would worry for me all weekend (that was all said in jest but with some degree of seriousness).

Just thought maybe some of the others who have surgery coming up soon might find that way of looking at it helpful.

He did give me a prescription for xanax if I need it but maybe I won't need it now.

It is my 40th birthday today and my kids are making a cake with Grandma in the kitchen.... better go help clean up... distraction is very helpful too!!

Hmmmm.....Interesting Spin

You know, that's not a bad idea. I mean, if your doc cares about you as a person and he cares about his/her reputation, he/she will do everything he/she can to make this as smooth sailing for you as possible.

Nice thought. Thanks!

O.

Its nice having a caring doc...

isn't it? My current gyno is the first one I can fully trust. Mainly cause he listened to me when I told him I thought I had endo, he did not blow me off. I had a doc tell me in the past that if I would just drink a glass of wine & relax before sex I wouldn't have a problem. (painful sex is one of the cardinal symptoms of endo) Can you believe it???? Needless to say I stopped going to that idiot & sexist fool. Sorry just had to vent.

Wow, I wish I'd had a surgeon like that, SBlumen - he sounds like such a concerned and caring fellow.

Here's a cyber from your sisters! A very happy birthday to you.
