Cleared for sex at 4 weeks?

Doctor cleared me for sex after wednesday this morning and i'll be 4 weeks post op on weds...

Is that going to cause any damage? I was shocked but he said i was healed very well inside and that I would be ok to have slow and gentle intercourse...

What do you all think?

It does seem early, but if your dr looked and says you're pretty well healed he should know what he's talking about. On the other hand, how do you feel? Are you still pretty tender? I feel you need to be ready mentally as well as physically and you make that call.

If you're up for it, go slowly, make sure you have an understanding with your dh about being gentle and if you find it's not a good thing you can always stop. I would use some extra lubricant just in case and to make it easier on you.

The main thing is if your vaginal cuff is healed. Most drs aren't going to give you the go ahead if that doesn't look secure. You will probably still be sore, because the tissue around those incisions takes time to heal. You make the call now. I hope it goes well for you.

The only thing I'm feeling now is severely itchy on the incision on my stomach. I have full energy..all lumps have gone down, no cramping or sharp pains, the blood clot i had above the incision has been absorbed, the opened incision is now a smooth pink line LOL It's jsut that I've read all the horror stories on here of people having sex and it scares me to death! LOL When the doctor gave me clearance, i was like "YEAH! Right on!" and went shopping for a new nighty..came back here thinking hmm..I wonder if anyone else would do it this early.." posted the question and then went to read the post op sex checkpoints and OMG...i dunno if i want to try for the rest of the year! LOL Maybe take a year off or something hehe

i dont think your dr would have cleared you for sex if everything didnt look healed. its really up to you though..just because you were cleared doesnt mean you have to do anything. you can just wait until you are ready.

I was cleared at 4 weeks, but my problem was convincing DH that he would not hurt anything. We finally tried at almost 8 weeks, and I was glad he wanted to wait. It was actually a bit of a turn-on for him to have to force himself to go slow.

Anyway, things are back to normal now, actually better than what used to be "normal"

My doc's best advice to me on all recovery things was to pay attention to my body and try everything carefully and stop if it felt bad.

Well we gave it a shot last night and I must say the doctor must have known what he was talking about LOL I had no pain, no spotting afterwards and the intimacy that I've been craving was perfect! Course it helps that hubby was gentle...
but...all was good so that was a releif!
