Entering 6th Week - Trouble Sitting

I had a TAH on 01-22-13. No complications and no prior surgeries. I am not over weight. I am 52 years old and not on HRT.

I am entering my 6th week and still have trouble sitting for an extended period of time. I can tolerate about an hour or two then I need to recline or lay down. I would not say it is painfull, just very uncomfortable. The discomfort is coming from my abdomen and incision. I had no complications from my incision as it has healed well. I also still have discomfort bending over. Thank goodness for the "grabber" I got prior to surgery!

I have to go back to work in a few days (my six weeks will be over) and dont know if I can sit for eight hours (I have a desk job).

Anyone else out there this far along and having trouble sitting?

Re: Entering 6th Week - Trouble Sitting

I still have pressure at 5 mths post op tomorrow!

My cuff is not healed so perhaps that is a factor? I'm also having a lot of GI issues (swelling, distention, cramps) and it feels like as my abdomen gets bigger, it presses on the vaginal area, making it hard to sit for long.

No real answers--only guesses as my surgeon as no idea. She just says things are well suspended. I too am healthy w/ only a c/section in my past.

Re: Entering 6th Week - Trouble Sitting

Sitting up would just wear me out for a bit after my surgery. I would have to stand up and walk around every so often. Not sure how long this lasted but maybe about 3 months. I would try to stand as much as possible when I was at my desk ...stand when I talked on the phone.

Re: Entering 6th Week - Trouble Sitting

Yes, sitting for me is horrific. I started with dull pian in pelvic, then after my HYS removing my Utreus the pain came back 10 times worse and sitting is very painful. I've been to another doc and neither one has any idea of why this has happened. All I no is laying down is the only comfortable position for me, as I too have a desk job and have not been able to return to work. Please stay on top of this with your doctors and don't let it get to bad. Physical Therapy has helped me some so seek out one who specialize in pelvic floor pain. Good luck
