Lavh

I AM SCHEDULED FOR LAVH ON THE 13TH OF MAY. I AM REGISTERED FOR CLASSES AT COLLEGE ON THE 27TH. I HAVEN'T HEARD OF ANYONE HAVING THE LAVH AND WANT TO KNOW IF I WILL BE FEELING WELL ENOUGH TO GO TO CLASS? THE DR SAID I SHOULD BE -- BUT HE'S A MAN. WHAT DOES HE REALLY KNOW ABOUT ALL THIS FEMALE STUFF. I KNOW I CAN'T PUSH MYSELF BUT I AM HOPING WITH A DEADLINE (SCHOOL) I WILL TRY TO GET BETTER BY LETTING EVERYONE AROUND ME HELP. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.

**I HAVE THE OPTION OF DROPPING CLASSES AND HAVE INFORMED MOST OF MY TEACHERS THAT I WILL NOT BE AT CLASS THE FIRST WEEK - JUST TO PICK UP ASSIGNMENTS.

I can relate!

Hi Julieann,

My situation was very much like yours. I had my LAVH on 2/28/03 and wondered if I would be able to take classes that began on 3/17/03. I posted this concern here and the responses indicated that I should wait and give myself time to recover. So I just waited until classes started to see how I felt. I did go back to class, but had my DH drive me to and from, plus carry my books into the classroom, as one of them was quite heavy. Since I had a very good recovery, I did quite well going back to school; mainly the studying at home helped me out with some of the boredom that I was experiencing.

However, I did need abdominal support in order to study- such as a big pillow or lap desk to put the book on. I found that it hurt too much to place the books on my stomach as I read.

The hardest part was when I went back to work, while still taking full time classes - but it was more of a mental challenge than a physical one; plus I still have problems with fatigue. Other than that, I am glad that I went back so soon, as delaying one of my classes would have pushed back my graduation date back one year.

If you have time to wait to register, I would wait and see how you feel and proceed from there. It might not be a bad idea to talk to your professors before class starts and explain your situation. I worked with mine in the event that I could not sit too long, or needed to miss class depending on how I was feeling. My profs were more than willing to work with me on this.

Good luck to you during your recovery and future school plans. Keep us updated and let us know how you do.

s

I am recovering

I had a LAVH on April 30th. Five days later I am still having a rough time. I can't do much and I am very tired. I will add you to my buddy list and keep you updated. How many classes will you be taking. From everything that I have read from other people at 2 weeks post you still can't do much because you get so tired and there is still a lot of pain in your abdomine. My Dr. has me out of work and school for 6 weeks.
