Pain Bioidentical Progesterone

Hi Everyone,

a few years ago I was told that I was Estrogen dominant and my Doctor put me on bio-identical Progesterone. We started with a pill from a compounding pharmacy and I had a lot of trouble with migraines. Therefore we tried pills dissolved under the tongue, which caused the same problems and later on a cream and I still had trouble. So I did not take any hormones for a while until my estrogen level dropped dramatically.

I started with the Vilvette Dot 0.375, later had to switch to the 0.05 and it felt good. I started taking a very small amount of cream to test if I now get along better but it did not work.

My doctor told me the only thing we could try is Prometrium. Well, I was supposed to take it without any break and it worked well for about 4 weeks, until I had the problems again before I started estrogen, breast tenderness, anxiety, weight gain, a permanent full bladder - you name it. And on top of that, I started getting horrible back pain in my shoulder blades. First I thought I need again a higher dosage of Estrogen or a different one since it also seemed that the patches did not last as long as I wanted.

I also decided to take a break from the Progesterone and my Doctor told me to try it. She put me on Estogel instead and I take a pump in the AM and in the PM. I never felt as good during HRT.

Now, I started adding the Progesterone again and bummer - I felt instantly bad again.

I heard that some women only take Progesterone every 3-4 month. Has anyone experience with that and for how long does it need to be taken? Or how does it work for you if you open the capsule and use it trans dermal? Or maybe even vaginally? What I read is that the symptoms would not be so bad this way.

I hope some ladies have some ideas for me. If I could I would only take the Estrogen but I know that's not possible.

And on top of everything, my doctor has the opinion Progesterone is the wonder drug and should only make me feel better. She is puzzled every time when I tell her the opposite is the case.

Last not least because I took the Progesterone for almost 6 weeks before I took the break - is it possible that enough Progesterone has build up in my body and that for this reason it already gives me trouble since I started to early to add it on to the Estrogen?
