Re: So what do I really need before and after surgery?

A lot of people have mentioned the tummy pillow and body pillow, but I can't stress enough the importance of having a variety of types of pillows. I am a side sleeper, and getting settled for sleep requires a construction job of situating the pillows. I recommend finding a few of the cheapest, thinnest ones you can. These are great for filling in and supporting your stomach. I found some at Ikea for $0.99 each that were perfect.

So what do I really need before and after surgery?

Also, I have dining room chairs spread throughout my apt for use as handrails- one by my bed, one in the bathroom, one by the recliner. Once you start getting up and down on your own, you will appreciate the support.

While in the hospital I stayed in the pretty gowns they give you I didn't really need anything while i was there other then my body pillow and blanket from home was nice. After I came home these are some things I was glad to have..... Colace, wet wipes, prunes, yogurt, heating pad and my hubby One thing I wish I did have was GAS X. My gas wasnt too bad but when I had it, it was pretty bad

Re: So what do I really need before and after surgery?

I downloaded to my mp3 player an audio book and relaxing music such as piano, etc..and nature sounds..my fav is the rain and thunderstorm...it was awesome at the hosp..blocked out hosp "noises" and gave me something relaxing to concentrate on..was great when I got home, too. Helped me to get some much needed naps and sleep at nite. It also helped me to take my own pillow...much more comfortable than those they have at hosp and was nice having my own..comforting!

Re: So what do I really need before and after surgery?

I asked for a fan when I got to my room at the castle and that was great!
I sleep with one in my room at home too. THey brought me one within minutes and if you get hot you can have it facing you. But the sound really helped.
