Undies question

Ok I know this sounds a minor question but here goes... I am off to buy some nice cotton undies for hospital and was wondering which is better for a swelly belly, bikinni undies or full undies?

Undies question

For me, it's been the largest, fullest undies I own. Anything else just strains against my belly when it swells up. Truth be told, commando is best , but you've got to be prepared for discharge, so light pads may be necessary for a while.

Undies question

I had my sister buy me some guys boxer briefs in a larger size, and although they looked riduculous, they were sure comfortable for the first few days - the wide elastic was great for putting up over my big belly, and since there is no leg elastic, no binding - otherwise, I would recommend a large size of grandma grundies. Good luck! p.s. Good to think about this now, rather than after surgery!

Undies question

I bought "granny panties" a size larger than normal. Don't spend a lot of money on whatever you get because you won't need / want them for very long. I agree, commando was the best! I would save your money for some really nice panties after you're feeling better. If I recall correctly, I was back into my regular panties around week 4 (I'm now almost 6) and the granny panties have been thrown away.

Undies question

I bought cotton granny panties and HATED them. they hurt my incision more than anything!! Commando is best, but I use my regular panties. Since my cut is bikini it is below the waist, and I use silky panties so they do not "catch" on my stitches and the little bits of scab at the incision.

JMHO.

Undies question

Three pair of relatively inexpensive all cotton granny panties which did get laundered often due to a little discharge. I bought the style without elastic at the leg openings, and was glad I did since my upper thighs were swollen after surgery. By the time the panties were sprouting holes, I no longer needed them.

Undies question

I forgot to mention if you are having a laporascopic procedure (I have had several) granny panties are probably not the way to go since you will have a small incision right at your belly button. When I had a laporascopic procedure, I just used my regular underwear, low rise thongs or boy shorts. They hit a little above the bikini incision, and below the belly button one, its perfect. However I did get the grannies for my TAH/BSO because I will be having staples and my DR said the high rise briefs in a size bigger was recommended. And I trust his opinion. I couldnt imagine wearing my reuglar underwear since it would sit right on top of my staples.

Undies question

Another thought on this subject... at my pre-op appointment 2 days before surgery, I asked the doctor where my incisions would be for my laparoscopic procedure. I was told that I'd have one in my belly button, and then the other two were just an inch or so below. So, for me, a low bikini panty was very comfy, as it didn't come anywhere close to my incisions. Perhaps your doctor can provide you with more information as to the placement of your incisions?

Undies question

I had the Davinci hysterectomy so that meant 5 dime size holes. I purchased hanes bikini cut (cotton) and they worked wonderfully
