Menopause symptoms after TAH?

Hi All,

I am 45 yrs old and just had a TAH on July 24th. My doctor kept talking to me about going directly into menopause and I was soooooooo scared about it. But so far nothing has happend and I was just wondering if anyone else is the same way and I know some women didn't even go through menop. at all after a TAH.

My symptoms began about 4-5 weeks post op. Hot flashes and trouble sleeping...doing fine now that I am on a low dose patch.

I am glad you are not having any problems. Estrogen is stored in fat cells in the body, and everyone is different when, or if they will have symptoms. Some people use up their stored estrogen faster than others.

Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones, let's hope so.

Thanks for your responses. So what exactly do hot flashes feel like? And what kind of trouble sleeping?

It like you are hot from the inside out..wave of heat washing over your body..people said my face and neck got red...I kept asking people is it hot in here or is it me? Sometimes I get cold after a hot flash. Sleeping problems consisted of being able to go to sleep but waking up around 2-3 hours later, tossing and turning...lots of wierd dreams.

Wow! Ok so I already have weird dreams and i already wake up every 3 to 4 hours to urinate I have that down. I have already for the last 3 yrs had kind of hot flashes when I got heart paplatations from anxiety.
Gee I sound messed up eh? lol thats under control tho. I don't think they were real hot flashes like you're describing.

The only think i notice that is different is my skin, it's dry. I don't know what its from. Oh well, anything goes after a surg like this.
