I'm starving!

Day to of clear liquids and bowel prep and I am starving. To the point it is giving me a headache. Tomorrow is the day, though. And, all I can think of today is that I can finally eat tomorrow!!! LOL, I guess that is a plus to help keep my mind off being nervous. I keep thinking about everything I want to eat postop....most of them are probably things I shouldn't eat, though.

I'm starving!

Day two of bowel prep for me, too. Mild hunger pangs...I just keep drinking fluids and ate some Jello a little while ago. Broth is just plain nasty! I had some yesterday...ugh. Trying to drink Gatorade a lot because it has the potassium, salt, and sugar replacements in it, and these are the substances our bodies are losing from the effects of the bowel prep. I don't want them to have to stick me more than once tomorrow to start my IV, so really need to stay well hydrated. I had problems getting IV started in the past following bowel prep for colonoscopies because I was dehydrated from the bowel prep. Make sure you drink lots and lots of liquids today, and best wishes on your surgery and recovery!

Re: I'm starving!

I am so worried about this. The last bowel prep I did was for a colonoscopy, but I didn't have to be there until 2 in the afternoon. By that time my own arm started looking appetizing I made my husband stop on the way home at the 1st fast food joint. Which let me just say, I regretted later. Probably not the best option of a greasy hamburger after anesthesia and a complete bowel cleanse, but boy did it hit the spot!

Re: I'm starving!

I really haven't been very hungry through my two days of bowel prep. I've eaten Jello three times in two days when I felt little hunger pangs. I've mostly filled up on allowed liquids. Of course, I hadn't been eating much even when I could because my stomach is all smushed up under my ribcage and just a few bites at a time has been all I could manage without being miserable. I've lost ten pounds in the past few weeks, and can slide my jeans down over my hips without unbuttoning or unzipping them. Not an ideal way to lose weight, of course, but I could stand to lose a few pounds (or more)...lol!
