Hormones or OTC Meds post-hysterectomy?

Hello fellow sisters I am 43 and had a complete hysterectomy about a year and a half ago. I am currently not taking any hormones or meds, but thinking I maybe should. I have hot flashes during the day and at night...they don't really stop me from doing anything, so I've just dealt with them. I think I am a little more irritable and I have completely lost my sex drive. And of course I'm having a harder time losing weight. My doctor gave me a prescription for Premarin, however, it is very expensive and my insurance only covers it after I reach my very high deductible. Are there other meds anyone has had luck with that aren't so expensive? Thanks for any advise you can give me!

Re: Hormones or OTC Meds post-hysterectomy?

Hi! I ended up going into surgical menopause (I just turned 40) and they put a "Vivelle dot" on me right after surgery. Without insurance it's $85 for a obe month supply I think that's what the pharmacy told me today. Maybe call your Dr. And ask for different options or see if they can give you samples. You could also see if you could print out coupons from the maker of the drugs website. Best wishes!

I'm on oral estradiol and it's $5.00/mo.

I would try GNC. They have a few different paks that help. It's around $40-$50 depending on sales.

You can go to Premarins website and see if they have a discount card or call your dr and ask for a cheaper option.
