Increased rectal pressure post hysterectomy

I am nearly 3 weeks post op. Before surgery constipation was typical although not really bothersome. Now after hysterectomy I have regular daily bowel movements which is great. However I feel like I notice all the movement in my intestines when food moves through and have a lot of rectal pressure/intestinal discomfort especially after eating throughout the day. I do feel normal again after using then toilet. Does anyone else experience this increased rectal/intestinal pressure? love the new regularity but I just hope the bottom pressure improves over time. It can be especially uncomfortable while sitting.

Re: Increased rectal pressure post op

I've noticed increased sensitivity/awareness in my bowels; I think I know exactly what you are talking about with the rectal pressure. I am 11 weeks post op and it's getting to be less intrusive, slowly but surely. I am hoping it continues to get better as I move further through the healing process or at least I just get used to it and don't notice it. I can't complain too much though as the hysterectomy seems to have cured all of my digestive issues and that's been so wonderful.

Yes, the way you describe it as "awareness" is exactly what I was trying to express. It's not truly painful but a bit uncomfortable and a new sensation for sure. Anyway, I appreciate hearing that you're further along than me and noticing at least some improvement!

Re: Increased rectal pressure post op

Though I didn't have rectal pressure very often (most of that was gas), I can relate to feeling everything moving through there. I had a few instances which I compared to feeling like someone was mining rock in my intestines - I could feel ever rumble, tumble and "plop" inside. I don't know when that went away, but it did.

A low footstool, about 7-9" in height, to rest your feet on when you're on the throne might help.
