5 days post hysterectomy & Stitch Busted

I don't know if I did too much, it was sweat, lotion or my cincher but my incision opened on the outside and I'm kinda freakn out! I'm not bleeding so I put a surgical bandaid over it and will call my doc in the am. Has this happened to anyone else? Was there not enough glue on it? Is showering everyday not good (I leave my back to the shower head)? I don't like ERs and I'd rather MY doc take care of me, is this the right thing to do? Any advice?

😃 Update... I'm healing very well and fast, the doc said! Incision looks great and dermabond has just come off because I'm healing properly and my skin is actually together but I can't see it the way he does. Since I trust him with my life I'm relieved!!! 😁 He said the bandaid I have over the incision is fine to keep there (changing daily to keep clean of course) with neosporan, as well as covering the others, until 24th for my post-op follow up. He also told me that my pathology report came back clean so no other issues need to be addressed!
While I had his time, I asked why I was having hot flashes since I didn't have my ovaries removed, he explained that my body is "in shock" should adjust but if I can't bear the sweats or emotional roller coaster to call and he will prescribe me something.
Again...I'm elated with my decision to have the hysterectomy done and looking forward to a 'normal' & pain free lifestyle! 😃

Great news that you are doing well and your stitches are fine!

Many women have hormonal fluctuations post op due to "sleepy" or "shocky" ovaries. I didn't have hot flashes, but I was on an emotional and wept uncontrollably. For me this improved at about the 6 week mark and I felt like "me" again. I could tell my ovaries had kicked back in and my hormones had levelled out. Here is an article on this:
