bowel prep???

welp, i got my info package today from the doctor. it's nice how he took the time to send this out to me...never receive anything like this when i had my hyst form the OTHER doctor.

anywho, i was a little shocked when i read that i had to do a bowel prep. i have to take 2 Dulcolax 2 days before surgery and the night before i have to do an enema. i doubt i'll have anything to offer the porcelian gods after being on a clear liquid diet that day.

anyone else have to do a bowel prep for a V V F??

okay stupid questiion here but is Dulcolax the same as Colax??

My surgery was scheduled for a monday am, the afternoon before i ate lunch, went to the drug store and bought the behind the counter bowel prep kit by Fleet. There were six vials to mix with a clear liquid (juice or ginger ale) and after 3, I felt like I had food poisoning. I was told later that to clean out the colon, it has to contract to push everything out. I only drank 3 of the 6 vials, no enemas and she didn't complain about the colon later. Seemed to work just fine. Try to eat light and you'll have less to purge, I don't understand the 2 days prep....? In the good old days, they just gave you an enema the nite before. I said I'd rather fast 3 days next time than just drinking the 3 vials.....YUK it hurt my already hurting tummy! Good luck...they do not want your insides contaminated with human waste should something get cut (intestines, colon, etc.) Believe me, you'll live, its just painful.
