Re: Any all-liquid diet day-befores out there??
I had to do the clear liquid diet and bowel prep the day before my LAVH. It wasn't as bad as I expected and am so glad my Dr. had me do it.

Re: Any all-liquid diet day-befores out there??
I had not bowel prep and my liquid diet started after lunch the day before. However I was told to eat lightly for breakfast and lunch (recommended soup for lunch). No one seemed to care that I had a red jello and I didn't have to start no dairy until after lunch so had a little milk in my coffee in the morning. Then no food or drink after midnight. I thought I would be hungrier in the morning but I was a little nervous and kept busy folding last minute laundry, picking up, etc. until it was time to leave, so didn't think about it.

Re: Any all-liquid diet day-befores out there??
Hi:
My hyster is scheduled in about 2-1/2 weeks - and my dr. said eat "lightly" up to mid-day (no bean burritos is what he said!! lol) and then "clear" liquids for the rest of the day (my surgery is set for 8 am). I do know that with a colonoscopy you're supposed to totally avoid "red" liquids, Jell-o - maybe it's the same with this type of surgery.
Stay calm and focused! Be well!

Hideous...I have never been so cranky in my life!! One lousy day but I sufferred. I had to drink all clear liquids- jello was the closest to food,,,then I had to mix gatorade with bottle of miralax and down that..goodtimes...after midnight- nothing, no water, nothing. My surgery was at 1:00 om on the 20th.....my last words were- " I AM SOOOOO HUNGRY"........you get through it but it sucks!

Re: Any all-liquid diet day-befores out there??
I was so grumpy because I was hungry. I was having a hard time concentrating on anything but my hunger pains.
I had my surgery on a Saturday morning and I wasn't allowed to eat anything after 11 AM on Thursday (which was my birthday). No creamer in your coffee. I had soda instead. I was told I could have soda, but it didn't specify if cola was ok (I had Mountain Dew). Then I still had to drink that nasty stuff Friday morning. It didn't really do anything, guess I was sufficiently cleaned out prior to that.
Then absolutely nothing after midnight the night before your surgery.
The surgeon told me that one of the main reasons for them wanting you to be "empty" is so that they have more room to move around in there. Which is more important with a laparoscopic surgery than an open one.
