Hyster Sister Book
I received my hyster sister book and will be taking it to the castle with me on June 22. I had to go to ER today because of the severe back, pelvic, and leg pain. I was summoned to bed until my surgery. Tho, I do have to go to my ob-gyn tomorrow and then pre-op blood work and EKG Sat at the castle. I sure hope they dont make me wait because I cant sit for more than a few seconds without having pain. My uterus and fibroids are growing and that is what is causing the pain. Take care everyone.

hang in there
Slacker,
We go on the same day. I am so sorry you are having so many problems. I just want it to be over.
I was all peaceful and calm with the decision, then decided to go to one more site and read about prolapses. Now that is not my only problem-the fibroids are pushing on my bladder and I have lots of pelvic pain. But after reading on the site about all kinds of other ways to repair rectoceles and prolapsed uterus, and what to ask the doctor about vaginal support-where they will attach the vaginal wall and all. Well after reading all that, I am ready to call the whole thing off and get a third opinion.
My Ob/gyn says he can fix it all, and do the pelvic floor repair and tighten up things and fix the rectocele, and give me HRT. How do I know that? Only by trust, and choosing a doctor that has been in a large hospital for 22 years. Then I think, maybe he doesn't know the lastest techniques. He told me he wouldn't have all those women out there that were very happy they had the surgery if he wasn't good. But I have to take his word for it, and the nurses that work for him, and some people in town that say he is good. I am NOT going to read one more article-it is only a few days away.

Hyster Sister Book
Thank you for all your kind words everyone. Having all you with me in my heart will make everything much easier. I am sure the preop appointment will be fine. Only thing that bugs me is I can't sit up without being in pain and you know how doctors like to make you wait. But my appointment is at 9:20am, so maybe there wont be much waiting time. Normally I dont make early morning appointments because I am a late sleeper. I knew I made the appointment early for a reason
Nothing like planning ahead. I will check in every so often. Take care.

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to mention that I was at our local library and they had a copy of the Hyster Sisters book. Thought I'd throw out that option for those who are interested...!

Hyster Sister Book
I am taking my hyster sister book to my ob-gyn this morning and showing her. She might want to get some copies and make it available to her patients. At least I think it would be a good idea.

good luck at your preop
Best wishes to you and have all your questions answered. I had my preop at the end of May because of two surgeons being involved. But they were very good to tell me to call with any more questions. And call I did.

Hi
Hi:
Went to ob-gyn this morning and while waiting on doctor to come into the exam room, I had a anxiety attack. I am not sure if it was from the office being to hot, the tylenol and codeine I had before I went in there, or all of the tension of the up and coming event that is happening June 22 when I go to get my TAH. She did a pelvic and said my uterus is so enlarged that she might have to cut up and down instead of the bikini cut. What kind of cuts did my other sisters get please. I told her my anxiety problems and she said as soon as I get to the castle to tell the nurse to give me something to calm myself. She also talked about since I have a hormonal thing that contributes to anxiety that she will try and save both ovaries instead of trying to save just one. She did say though, that she will have to see what it is like when she gets in there. What do my hyster sisters suggest. I sure could use your guidance about now. I showed her my hyster sister book and she wants to borrow it when I am done with it, I am thinking of just buying her a copy since she is such a wonderful doctor. Plus if she uses it to help other hyster sisters, then it will help out the website maintance. Thanks for being here.

Hyster Sister Book
Hi Pam, I had a humongous uterus too (well, humongous ovaries, too, for that matter). I have a vertical incision, some thirteen inches long, from above belly button to pelvis. It is so long partly because I am a very large woman, so there's a lot of distance from belly button to pelvis *grin*.
The way surgeons do sutures nowadays, the support from the sutures is fabulous, although they get annoying within a few days. Do you have any specific concerns about the kind/direction of incision? If you can mention anything, maybe I can tell you something more about mine that will be helpful.
Your hormones are messed up, you're scared and life is very much in flux right now. IMO panic attacks are a very normal way to react to this stuff, miserable as they are. You are not crazy, and the pain will be OVER soon!! I felt better from the moment I woke up from the anesthesia and have yet to look back, despite no HRT.
