Anyone recommend a pain med that works

I have endo and am scheduled for a TAH/BSO on the 17th but in the meantime I need a recommendation for a pain med that works for them?? I currently take percocet but I am getting tolerant of it and it is not doing the job like it used too. Plus I am concerned about all the acetominophen that is in it.

Thanks!

Anyone recommend a pain med that works

Hi Samm - Some people rave about percocet - but it doesn't touch my pain when I'm having an endo "attack." I tried Darvocet, and it worked pretty well if the pain is bearable. at the hospital, they gave me Dilauded, which knocks you on your can for about 2 hours at a time. It was much stronger than the morphine - on me anyway.
Were you looking for pain meds to take at home or what you want to ask for in the hospital? I was also given Toradol in hosp, and I've seen a lot of posts about it being very good.

Good luck and God bless you!

Anyone recommend a pain med that works

Lolly:

I am looking for something that I can take prior to the surgery - something for the next 3 weeks to deal with the pain until then..

Anyone recommend a pain med that works

I don't do well with narcotics and found they were not very effective at controlling my pain anyway.
Toradol is a non-narcotic anti-inflammatory that worked extremely well for my pain pre-op and post-op. I would just recommend taking it with food or milk

Re pain meds prior.

Hi, I am also taking pre-op pain meds and like you I started with percocet, and they stopped working for me, as well as giving me
wicked bad headaches....so I switched to Lortab, not sure if it
is acetometophen (sp) based or not. Worked really well for me.
But now "they" say no more Lortab before surgery, so I had to
go to Vicodin, it is working but not as well, but I will try to "suck
it up" until Monday, and hopefully, meds at hospital will work well.....they better!!!!!
Also on one of my fine visists to the Castle had some dialude (sp),,,,,and whoa was feelin fine!!!! Morpine is okay but makes
me more nauseated.
I have also read that some of the princess on prior pain meds should tell anth. person that you were on these or might wake up
in more pain, because of our tolerence build up....and believe
me I will be speaking right up :O!
Good luck and best wishes.
