Lupron relief?

Hello everyone!
I am scheduled to have my first Lupron shot tomorrow...how soon have you all had relief from it? I am scheduling a two month follow up with my Dr and have postponed my surgery for November since as a farmer this is the height of my season and my Dr is sure this will give me relief until them.
Thank you~

Lupron relief?

Hi Fireflyy,

I would say I started having some fibroid relief by week 3 after my 1st lupron shot.

I had a ~monthy~ that lasted 10 days about a week after my first shot - and that was my last monthy. Aftet that, I started to gradually feel better. I did not feel the pelvic pressure from the fibroids 24/7 and I felt less tired.

I did start to have some menopausel side effects - hot flashes and night sweats - at about one week after my 1st lupron shot, since lupron causes temporary chemical menopause. But for me...the side effects just told me the lupron was working.

Sending best wishes~

Lupron relief?

Hey FF,
I had my first Lupron shot on March 9 and had mild (very mild) hot flashes, but no night sweats the first month. Since I had the 3-month dose in 1 shot (do not look at that syringe...I hear it's pretty big!) I am still feeling the effects and the hot flashes did get a bit more severe in month 2. But my fibroid did shrink from 16cm down to an operable size by my LSH date of May 29. Don't be too freaked out by all the horror stories you hear about Lupron. Legitimately many women have severe issues, but I am speaking for one who only got relief! Am proud to say my surgery went great and I felt fantastic even hours afterward.
Best of luck to you. You are taking the right steps to get your life to a semi-normal state.

Lupron relief?

Hi Firefily.

I am just curious what made you decide to take Luprion? Was it at the suggestion of your dr? I support whatever the decision was to take it. I just wanted you to know there maybe other options beside Luprion. I had a horrible time with the shot. It was one of the methods I used years before my TAH when I was still trying to have children. I used it to relieve the pain and bleeding. The shot worked after about 2 times. I was on it for six months, but had to stop because of the side effects. They were a nightmare to put it lightly. Not everyone has a hard time with the side effects, but I recommend you be as informed as you can on the side effects. I hope all works out well for you!
