The length of time varies....

Greetings,

My surgery took 3.5 hours...but that is because of some complications that prevented my Dr from doing the TVH that she had planned and having to do a TAH/RSO instead. I think the length of the surgery depends on the Dr, the procedure itself, any previous surgeries and anything that may/ or may not arise. Please try not to concentrate so much on the surgery itself..you will be completely out and won't know what is happening anyway until afterwards. Good luck and I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

Peace and Blessings, MzTumari

TAH - How long is surgery?

My surgery was 4 1/2 hours. My doc started to do my surgery lap and when he got in there my ovaries were adhered to my bowels. He opted to convert to abdominal in order to lessen the risks to me. I am extremely happy with his decision. I am having quite a bit of pain but I also had quite a bit of endometriosis and he had to manipulate my bowels and bladder in order to get most of it.

TAH - How long is surgery?

Redjane,
Don't be in to much of a hurry to be home. Even when you get home, you have to rest and do nothing. The hospital beds are easier to get your self out of, ( you can raise them), you have nurses there to help.
My dr. gave a list of not allowed to's before I left the hospital. Pretty much not allowed to lift anything that weighs more than a fork.

TAH - How long is surgery?

I was in for 2 days with a TAH. Some stay 3 or4 days. It really depends alot on when your bowels are working and when your body tolerates solid food (and other things, but complications are rare). How old are your children? And what type of hysterectomy are you having? My boys are teens, so it was nice to be home with them, and they were a great help. My daughter is 6, but very independent. All I really had to do for her was walk to the bus stop to make sure she got home safely. She was able to get her own snack, take her own bath, etc.
