Can someone tell me what is good for gas pains?

Well, the BM's have started and so have the gas pains. I have been doing a lot of walking but I still need something for the gas pains. Can someone please tell me about something that is OTC that works? Tomorrow will be a week post op and my stomach is bothering me a little. Is this normal? It feels icky and since I've never had surgery before I don't know what to expect. Also, my shoulders hurt but I don't know why.

Gas X and peppermint tea work well. Also drink lots and lots of water and walking.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Can someone tell me what is good for gas pains?

Luvs~ Hi - I also had the problem with severe pain in my shoulders and collar bones. I was extremely miserable in my shoulders. My dr said the gas they use to pump up your tummy during the Lap and the anethesia can settle in those areas. Mine were gone it about 1 - 1.5 weeks.
As far as the gas and BMs, well I chewed some of the new cocoa and cream tums (they are so good) and my dear sweet cousin suggested good warm oatmeal (she said to make it with a little extra water to make it runny). I did this for a couple of days and it did the trick. I have also taken stool softeners. But then again, I had BM problems before surgery, and they have improved since then.
Best wishes to you!

I liked the gas-x thin strips. I could feel them working immediately. Also read the directions because you can have more than one at a time. I have had 2 drs say they were harmless.

Can someone tell me what is good for gas pains?

The gas pains were really starting to bother me last night. I walked around the house to see if that would help. It didn't work that much. They did give me a stool softener in the hospital and I started taking them today. I did quite a bit of walking today. It's also the first day that I drove my own car and it felt good. My aunt and I stopped at Denny's but I didn't have anything greasy. Just scrambled eggs and toast. I'll keep on taking the stool softener every day for a while and see how that does. I don't mind taking the ex lax, it's just that I don't want to have to keep getting up to go to the bathroom.
