Did anyone get shaved?

For those of you who had to be shaved before your surgery I have a question for you. Was your skin real tender right under the incision where the hair is growing back? This sounds so stupid, but the hair is so short right now it is rubbing on my underwear and it is causing a weird sensation on the skin. It feel almost tender to the touch and prickly. It doesn't hurt but it feels funny. Its not coming from the incision itself, just the pubic area below it. Anyone else have this problem?

Did anyone get shaved?

YES!!!!!!!!!

My underwear drove me crazy, then I got the idea to wear a pad. It helped a bit, but not much. Now my hair is a bit longer I don't have that feeling thank goodness.

Only problem now is removal of the steri strips! Oh that is going to be a weird sensation!

Did anyone get shaved?

Mine drove me crazy for about 3 weeks. It does get better and the longer your hair gets, the better it gets. I did find cotton underwear was better, than nylon for catching the little hairs poking out.

Did anyone get shaved?

Mmmmm- not sure whether I should enter this thread or not. I always shaved in the nether regions until this surgery. Then when I went for my pre op the nurse said don't shave down there before coming to the hospital. So.... I didn't. I thought ok then , they want to shave down there and make sure it is all antiseptic and everything. When I had a chance to look, a couple days later, they hadn't shaved at all. Now I am afraid to shave because the incision line goes way past the pubic bone. I am in a dilemma- I don't like hair down there - but I am afraid to shave. I always wore thongs and g strings also. Now I like the security of my cotton granny panties. My husband needless to say could end up very unhappy over those two items. My incision is tender everywhere, not just there. So until I feel no twinges coming from that department, I think I shall carry on. Cath

Ok, so i wasnt going to enter this thread til i seen chapelgates post HAHA. I also shaved in that area previous to the surgery. I dont prefer the hair down there either. I shaved the night before, and i am SOO glad i did. The nurse comes in and says 'ooh we need to give you a quick lil shave' I was like I ALREADY DID IT LOL..She looked at me like umm ook!

Did anyone get shaved?

I started shaving a couple of months before the surgery so I wouldn't get the "itchies" and would be used to the "bare" feeling. No one said anything to me about whether they were going to do it at the hospital or not. But I didn't have any external incisions. Now I'm continuing to shave because I've decided I kinda like it.

Did anyone get shaved?

im so glad someone mentioned this. since my surg was 5 weeks ago my stickies are almost gone from the unsightly hairdo they gave me.
I also find that the cotton bigggg granny panties feel better than the one that come across exactly where my incision line is

Did anyone get shaved?

I'm happy I'm not the only one with this problem! This is why I love this site so much. Look at all the info we can get from each other about all the personal problems we are having. I would have never called my doctor (man) with all the personal questions I have. And none of my friends have been thru this to ask them.
For bjr1958- I already took the steri-strips off and it didn't hurt a bit. I took mine off 11 days after my surgery so my hair wasn't long enough to get pulled. My incision actually felt better after I took the strips off.

Did anyone get shaved?

I had shaved myself before surgery, so they didn't have to, but I have that prickly sensation that borders on burning pain. Clothing of any sort is so uncomfortable. Attempting to shave now is like I'm being cut with a butcher knife. I hope this goes away sooner than later.

Did anyone get shaved?

O.K. so I didn't shave first. I thought about it and then decided that it might not look good. So I had thought about lazer ok so chickened out again. I just trimmed! Yes, I didn't want to step on it on the way to the gurney.. My sister did a whole thing on that hair being too long and infront of our grandmother... it was so funny I still laugh when I think about when I am going to be waxed..... I guess I should just go lazer when I heal so that I don't have to think about it anymore. I hate to scratch that area, people do notice! <admin note > Not itchy - just starting to wake up the nerves... worried about real contact with hubby. Poor thing seems to think that I am interested in more than a cuddle. God it's only been 13 days since TAH surgery.
