That's good news --- keep it dry and try not to rub it

Open In Houston!

I am 8 weeks post op today my incision still has a dime sized opening. Kudos and thanks to INTUNE101 who was an Angel to me when my incision first opened. This website was and has been a true blessing...

I had two pockets in that opening one to the left that is now closed and one to the right which is still open and draining. The bleeding finally stopped about a week or less ago. My DH is an RN (thank goodness). My incision opened about 9 days after surgery and remained open through the Christmas weekend. I finally saw the doctor on the Wed after Christmas and we started packing with iodoform packing. I was using 3 4x4's at each dressing change and about 1 1/2 feet of packing at each change! I'm down to about 3-4 inches of packing and one 4x4. We've gone through 20yards of iodoform packing!!!! I saw the doctor on Monday and she is estimating another month before this belly closes up! I've struggled with a bacterial infection and also with recurring yeast on the surface because I also am a little fluffy (I like those words lol)... I am back to work but in the capacity of "special projects" from my house accesing my office remotely. I hope doc will clear me to 'test' this ride out on Valentine's day. Wouldn't that be a special day?!

I don't think they tell you about open incisions ahead of the surgery. If you seriously thought you were gonna come unzipped it might really have worried and freaked out for no reason. We all should get the UNZIPPED and HANDLING it award!!!

One thing the doctor did tell me... REST= HEALING!!! there's another link also posting on the same subject... https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=277797

Anyone who has an open incision needs to be under the care of their doctor definitely. You don't want complications!

Blessings ladies!!!
