pain meds?

I am wondering what the norm is for pain meds. I have had percoset since leaving the hospital. Surgery was tuesday and I got out the next day. The doctor didnt want me on it too long for constipation reasons, but things are going well there. Last night and most of today I was taking just ibuprofen but finally had to take percaset. Ibuprofen just wasnt cutting it. I only have 3 left and wondering if I can, or even should, get a refill. Dont want to seem like I'm being a baby but dont want to be in pain either.

I don't know about your Dr. but mine said to call if I needed a refill and they would refill it up to 3 times. I'm on Tylox though. I have only been taking it in the morning and at night only with anaprox for inflammation. Maybe you could use some OTC nausea meds like emetrol. Thank goodness I only had nausea in the hospital and they gave me meds for that.

Re: pain meds?

Each person's tolerance for pain is different. Your doc has the refill option for a reason, so take the pills if you need them. If you still need them and have no more refills left, be sure to ask your doctor.

Re: pain meds?

I rec'vd Percocet and Ibuprofen 600, taking the IBU 1-3 times a day and I'm down to 1/2-1 daily on the Percocet.
I would call your doctor and discuss with them.
