5 Months out

I had a DaVinci on June 4th. I would like to advise anyone considering this to research it thoroughly. I am still experiencing burning in the vaginal area, rectum and upper thighs. I have been on creams (with little success) and was referred to a neurologist. He is trying to get an MRI scheduled and has put me on a drug for nerve pain.

There was a time when the burning was so bad I could barely handle the pain. I want to share with you how being in this valley has brought me closer to God and stronger in my faith. He walks with me daily...sometimes carries me. I learned a lot about myself and others through the really really bad pain.

Praise God! The pain has lessened quite a bit. My OBGYN and neurologist had never heard of anythng like this so far out post op. I'd say it was THE WORSE at about months 3-4 1/2.

I guess my advice is to RESEARCH thoroughly the procedure you are considering AND if you're unsure, WAIT until you ARE SURE there is NOTHING else you can do. It is a major surgery that does have complications and, perhaps, a longer recovery than you may think.

Would I do this again if I knew what I know now...I probably would have put it off and waited to see if my condition got worse and I couldn't handle it. You can always schedule it if it gets unbearable.

Praying for you.

Re: 5 Months out

Yes, I feel your pain. It's similar to my feelings.
But I suppose at some point they need to take a leap of faith, that chances are that they will be one of those who will have a vastly improved life afterwards.
Knowing that I had no other option helps me when I despair. It's 15 months now and my life has changed. I seemed to heal perfectly - but then it turned: my belly is achey sensitive numb and I cannot bear touching it & feel the scar every step, no sex, I had hormonal panic attacks, I mourn the loss. Recently I started getting severe back pain and hyperventilate up to tetany. I wish I could find solace in God. On the other hand: just last week, some bits of my belly improved. We do keep healing even if it's more than a year - and my doctors told me it won't get better.
