LAVH 2 days post hysterectomy - showering / bathing

I had a TAH and was in the hospital for 4 days/nights. On Day 3 they removed my catheter and 2 nursing assistants helped me with my first shower. They wrapped plastic wrap around my abdomen to cover the staples and just told me to sit there and enjoy. It felt wonderful but I certainly did not have the strength or stamina to do it by myself. When I got home I had showers every 2 - 3 days and my daughter & husband were there to assist me. I have a 6 inch incision and needed help to dry myself off - everyone will be different. When I saw the surgeon at my 6 week check up, she did not want me taking soaking baths with bubbles just yet, she wanted met to wait a few more weeks.

Do what you need to do until your strength returns and you can shower and I hope you have a wonderful recovery.

My first shower was the 3rd day in The hospital. The nurse helped me undress and get me in. She wiped after. At home it was every couple days and my DH had to help me in and out as we have a soaker tub. I sat on a stool while in there as it was difficult to stand. I washed my hair in the kitchen sink in between. A bath was not allowed till after my 6 week appt.
