Hysterectomy tomorrow (6/24) nerves shot!

Surgery in the morning and I am sooooo nervous! Had my blood work drawn Monday and found out Tuesday that I'll need to receive 2 units of blood. Just added to my nerves. My hemoglobin is low down to 8....I've never had to have a transfusion, although I've been present for patients....now it's me that's the patient. I have to come to the hospital at 5 instead of 530am to have the first unit started. I will be having a laparoscopic robotic partial hysterectomy keeping both ovaries. Really needing some wise words and such. My doctor offered to give me valium for tonight, but I opted out since I'm not a pill person and never had that. Don't want to add to my worries.....

The anticipation of surgery is the worst! Don't fret if you don't sleep well tonight, over the coming days you'll be snoozing plenty! Try to do something relaxing tonight like taking a bath and listening to your favorite music in bed. The morning will come soon enough and surgery will be behind you before you know it. When you get to the hospital tomorrow, tell them you are nervous and they may give you something to relax you in your IV. Just remember, YOU GOT THIS! We are all here to support you and I know you are going to do great.

The night before surgery can be stressful indeed .

As (((sarrie22))) suggested, distract yourself to help you relax. Maybe watch a favorite DVD or two. Talk with friends and family.

I am not a pill person either, and did not take anything the night before. But they gave me something when I arrived for my surgery.
