Cut bladder during hysterectomy

I was sent home with a catheter for the next 9 days. My Dr. told me she injured my bladder and had to repair it so I will need to keep the catheter in. Anyone have this problem? It really sucks carrying around a bag of pee.

Re: Cut bladder during hysterectomy

Hi. I didn't experience this but I did have a catheter for two weeks and iifeel your pain. Others have found using a bigger bag or purse to clip he bag to helped them to feel better about getting out w the bag. But for me the catheter hurt me so bad I wasnt able to sit upright, let alone leave the house. The catheter was causing so much pain and spasms anytime I moved. So I just laid around the first two weeks. Commando. Lol.

Monday I switched to self cath and it has been night and day difference. So much easier and less painful and encouraging my "going".

I had retention pretty bad so it's been slow going for me but it sounds like a lot of sisters who have to come home w caths get theirs removed after the first week or so, hopefully for you too and you'll get yours removed soon

Re: Cut bladder during hysterectomy

I know exactly what you are going through as I went through same thing. I had my hysterectomy on June 21st with ovaries removed also. The dr cut my bladder trying to unstick my bladder and uterus because of endo. I have a Foley cathetar since then and don't get it removed until July 8th. I have been miserable w/it I developed a UTI and am now on an antibiotic which started making me nauseous today and I get a terrible pinching feeling so it hurts to walk and so much pressure. I am so sorry you have to go through this and pray you have an easier time with it. Other HysterSisters have had a cathetar and hopefully will tell you about how they did with it. Every person is different. This past week has emotionally drained me and I still have another whole week to go. If you have any questions please ask I think I have gone through anything and everything you possibly can for it. God bless and stay strong!
