Finally have surgery scheduled
I will be having an LSH on 11/9/06. Dr said that if needed he will convert to an abdominal incision. Ovaries are to remain if they are healthy. I will have my pre-op on 11/7 and I will have to do the dreaded bowel prep - YUCK!
My surgery is at 7 am (I am usually still in bed at this time). I have a friend who is a surgical nurse at the hospital and she tells me that this is the best time. She, also, assures me that they are all fully awake and ready to go. They are not allowed to assist on family or friends, so she will not be my nurse, but assures me that my nurse will be great. It helps me knowing that I have a friend making sure that I will be getting the best.

Congrats on getting the date set! It sounds like you have a great support system in place, so all that's left is the preparation and the waiting.
Wishing you a calm and speedy wait!

Good for you! I too planned my surgery well ahead of time (almost waited too long!), and was well prepared. Use this time to prepare your home and yourself. I had a TAH and was prepared as to how I'd feel, etc. My surgery was at 7:30 a.m., had to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. Believe me, they are awake and ready to go! And at this time of the morning, barring any emergency surgeries, you won't have any delays. I've had both my surgeries this year at that time and wouldn't change it at all. You get a full day of being in the hospital healing and recent research shows those who have surgery earlier in the day may heal better! Good luck!

Best wishes now that your time is set. Mine is for 1PM and I am not looking forward to it being that late in the day (or the potential for other things to bump it later). Being a 'morning person', I would much rather have your early time than mine.

Thanks everyone for the support. This is such a wonderful group. I hate that I have to be at the hospital so early, but at the same time am relieved that I will not have to be waiting around all day. Now to schedule friends to tend to my animals while I am recovering and get everything organized.
ready2go and laughnowcrylatr, Prayers and positive thoughts going out for your surgeries and recovery. May they be quick, uneventful and pain free. May the rest of your waiting be worry and anxiety free.
