Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
Hi, I'm having a LSH next week. The plan is to leave the ovaries and cervix. I have discussed topic with doctor and read the research. Now I would like to hear from the trenches.
I was just wondering if any of you post-op ladies regret your decision to keep the cervix if so why? Also, I would like to hear the flip side of wishing you could put the cervix back.
Thanks for your thoughts
Have a great day

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
I had LSH the end of November. It went great and I don't regret it at all. I will say though that I had a mini-period this month due to leaving ovaries and cervix but it was just a little inconvenient. No pain or cramping and was able to wear panty liners the whole time.

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
I would love to have kept the cervix and this was the intention until the surgeon found that the melon sized mass was growing off the back of the cervix and had to remove it.
I have been told that keeping the cervix really helps with pelvic floor support and that was my reasoning for wanting to keep it.

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
I had an LSH October 3rd and do not regret it one bit. My doctor cauterized my cervix and I've not seen anything that even resembles a period. Having the surgery was the best thing that I ever did. I feel like a new woman.

I didn't keep my ovary, but I did keep my cervix. I don't regret it at all.

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
I can tell you this, I feel great without my ovaries and cervix, and I dont miss them one bit, LOL! I have a few friends and an aunt who have kept their cervix because they feel it would have helped with intercourse etc. etc. Yet, we all still have vaginal dryness that causes discomfort during ntercourse. The only difference is they have mini periods and have to have a pap, and I dont. I do worry about pelvic support, but my DR says he has seen prolapse in both cases, with cervix and without, just about equal times. Basically you just need to do what you feel comfortable with. I dont miss it one bit, and especially after talking to my Aunt and girlfriends, I am glad I chose to have it removed. If you keep it, it might have to come out later, and that would really suck!

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
Hi;
I kept my cervix and happy I did, never had an abnormal pap and my cervix was healthy. have not yet gone for my once a year pap, I do have some vaginal dryness but I believe it happens in both cases.
sweetie, I pray for God to put in your heart what it is he wants you to do, and I pray to God to enlighten your doctors so when they speak to you, you are able to make the right decision for YOU....a big

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
Didn't expect so many replies while I was at pre-op. It is great to hear everyone is happy with the choices they made.
I understand the cause of potential mini-periods and that cauterizing the cervix will help prevent them. But, my question is if the cervix is building and shedding the endometrium and you block the escape route where does the blood go?
Does it back up into the pelvic cavitiy? Isn't that how you end up with endometriosis, pelvic inflammation ect.
Thanks for the sharing
Have a great day

Cervix - are you satisfied with your decision?
I had this concern too when making my decision to keep my cervix, I asked my surgeon his advice and this is what he said to me; "I wouldn't recommend removing anything that's healthy", that was all I needed to hear. My cervix was perfect and so was my right ovary, my uterus and left ovary, well, that's another story!
Good Luck!
