5 Weeks Post-op

Well, I just read the 5-6 Weekk Post-Op Suggestions and it mentions exercise. I'm ashamed of myself, I've always been too lazy to exercise, but I'm going to. Do you all have any recommendations that would be good for me to do since I've done nothing (I also have a total knee replacement in L knee, but that doesn't slow me down a bit)
I've heard of pilates, but don't know anything about them. Of course walking is always a good choice, but I'd kind of like to firm and tone up (underarms, thighs). I'm ready and open to hear from all of you. Thanks! bonnieb.60 workout: :

Walking is a great over all, burn and tone. Start slow and build up to a faster and longer walk. Than thow some strength training with weights in the mix.

Thanks for the tip . . . walking I can do, and of course, some light weights would tone underarms, maybe. Thanks!!

Walking is what I did, and lots of it. I also pulled out some belly dancing DVD's and tried to do what I could. I never attempted some of the moves I knew in my bones would hurt, but every little bit helped.

I'm still using walking as my primary form of exercise today.

Way to go!! That sounds so fun. I just recently ordered a DVD teaching you the "Latino" moves for exercise and I haven't even opened it yet. You've inspired me. thanks! I like almost anything if you add good music to it.bonniebolander60

5 Weeks Post-op

I'm now fully recovered, and I follow the FlyLady system. So, every morning when I do my daily housework missions, I put on music and dance...or at least I wiggle my butt around. LOL!

Because my job is so sedentary, it's important for me to do what I can, like park in the back of the parking lot and walk a bit more to do my shopping, take the stairs, or whatever. Once a year I go to a conference, and if I'm not in shape, I pay dearly for my laziness.

All these tiny bits of exercise helped me recover faster and I'm ever so grateful to HysterSisters for suggesting I speed my recovery with exercise. It made a huge difference.
