9 days post hysterectomy: Pain killers, insomnia

Hi all

How soon did y"all discontinue your pain meds??. They were making me super constipated and I've decided to discontinue. Now I find myself up and have a hard time staying asleep

Re: Pain killers insomnia

I only took one dose after a long car ride home. After that I used 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours for the 1st 3 weeks. I slept when I felt like it. I would sleep 3-4 hrs and then sit up for 3-4 hrs and then lay down again. I live alone so I didn't have anyone to bother. If you feel you absolutely have to sleep at night you could try one of the over the counter sleep aids (they have an antihistamine in them that causes drowsiness). For the constipation are you using stool softeners?. You could also try miralax. I ate a lot of prunes! LOL!
