Upcoming surgery 12/8: No anticoagulant until after my hysterectomy... I am terrified

Hello my name is Dee.. I am 41 yrs old and due to have a laproscoptic Hysterectomy without robotic assistance.. in March of this year I suffered a severe Bilateral Saddled Pulmonary embolism and have been on Xerelto since then.. I am scheduled for surgery on Thursday December 8, 2016... now I was originally told to bridge the Xerelto by stopping the Xerelto on Thursday and resuming the anticoagulant of lovenox injections twice a day daily up until surgery.. well when I went to get the prescribed injections..I was told my insurance denied the claim..they said they only approve once a day lovenox injections..so I was left feeling lost and desperate.. I immediately called my hematologist who come to find out the office closed early that day so I had to speak to the doc on call... she put me on hold and said she spoke with another doctor who agreed that they couldn't up the dose so it could be done once a day injection...so they recommended that I continue taking the Xerelto up until 48 hrs before surgery which mean after Monday I don't take any anticoagulant until after surgery.. I must admit I am terrified and just wanted to know if anyone experienced anything like this..

Your feelings and emotions are very normal. This is one difficult surgery to digest and process. And on top, you have to give up your anticoagulant for 48 hours. Anyone would be terrified

I am not on any blood thinners, but we have many ladies on this site with a wide variety of experiences. Hopefully one who has similar medical history to yours will see this post and respond.

The only thing I can think of is this..
Lovenox is costly, heparin is cheaper and can do the job. So I am wondering why your doctor and your insurance didn't suggest heparin. Since the Lovenox is not something your insurance will cover.
