question about adhesions and infection 9 weeks post-op

I have a question about adhesions. I have a huge painful tennis ball lump under my left laporoscopic incision. My sugeon's nurse said it's an adhesion. Since i discovered my lump my bowels have been painful like passing gas, during a BM or even when I sneeze or cough it hurts. I saw blood in my stool and I've been bleeding heavily similar to a mentruation for a few weeks.
Could it be a vaginal cuff infection? What exactly is a vaginal cuff? Could I have an adhesion where an organ is sticking to my colon?
Thanks

Re: question about adhesions and infection 9 weeks post-op

I am also having problems with BM and gas causing terrible terrible pain at 9 weeks post op along with some unexplained pain so am going for a ultrasound and an upper GI in a couple of weeks however if I was experiencing what you are I would not be relying on what the nurse says and would insist on have a DR look at me asap.

I have some experience with adhesions and I was curious what they're doing for you about this. that is odd. Know that I'm not a doc though. I'd want the doc. to see it and/or get a second opinion if he blows you off. That's just my opinion though. Keep us updated.

Re: question about adhesions and infection 9 weeks post-op

Hi,
I'm discouraged because the doctor said it's a 2 inch adhesion and there,s nothing she can do. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it since it's so painful?

dld

Regarding the bleeding, have you told your Dr. how much you are bleeding? Are you soaking a pad an hour? It sounds like more than a normal amount of bleeding.

The vaginal cuff is where the vagina has been closed after removal of the cervix. The bleeding could be a variety of things infection, hematoma, etc. That is why it is important to talk to your Dr. about it.

As far as the adhesion is concerned it is possible that you could have an organ sticking to your colon. It is possible that your colon has adhered to your vaginal cuff. Lots of things are possible but only your surgeon can tell and determine what might be done. SOmetimes surgeries are done to remove adhesions but the surgery could also cause more adhesions. Some members have indicated that massage and physcial therapy have helped "break" the adhesion.

These are all things to discuss with your Dr..

and hope things start to improve.
