Hysterectomy scheduled 5/22, really scared

I go in for pre-op on Friday for my May 22nd surgery.
I'm hoping to get some emotional relief from my surgeon at that time
I hope the same for you!!

My Surgery date is 5/13...anyway I was to start my period on that date...No Mother Nature decided to come early 7 days early and never happen before out of 35 years of period...Well it's my last time so I guess I must go out with a bang..I am getting a TAH and don't want my ovaries so I go to my Pre-Op Thursday. ..Keep In Touch!!

Hi there - I go on the 14th to my family doctor for my preop. Then all that's left is to show up at the hospital on the 22nd. After yesterday and today, I'm more ready than I've ever been I think. This one was rough. I've actually been weak today. Just feel completely and totally drained.

Don't be afraid. I had a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) on April 11/14 and I feel great. I had my ovaries taken out as well as my tubes uterus and cervix. I was also petrified to have it done but don't know why I was so afraid. I am doing great and getting better everyday. I walk a couple of times a day and only go around the block because you may tire easily like I did so you don't want to go far cause you have to come back. Just remember to be kind to yourself and listen to your doctor. I'm not one to sit around but am quite enjoying being off work for awhile. Getting caught up on my reading and watch lots of movies. Get lots of rest as it helps you heal. Good luck.

I am having my surgery on the 21st and my pre op is also on the 14th. Ready to get this done and over with. I also just had a really bad last menstrual cycle and all I could think was so happy it's my last one ever!!!! Good luck to you on the 22nd.

Hello May Ladies

What questions do you have prepared for pre-op?

I am scheduled for DaVinci on the 19th. I think having had laparascopic surgery to remove my appendix a few years ago has made me less nervous about having surgery. At the time we had just moved to a new city and had no relatives close by. I had a 2 and 4 year old, so for my emergency surgery I was alone at the hospital so my husband could stay with our children. I was nervous just prior to the surgery but everything went well and recovery was easy. I imagine this recovery will be a little harder, but I think having my ovaries removed and the possibilities that come with that actually makes me more nervous than the surgery itself.
