TAH: Shower

Runs to the bathroom to get my dry shampoo!! Didn't think to pack this!!! Thank you sister!!!

I had my TAH on a Tuesday and had a shower by Thursday morning. It felt wonderful! They didn't stand over me - let me shower in the shower room on my own. There was a stool if I needed to sit down and there was also the bell to ring if I had any problems. I didn't have any problems and it felt wonderful to be in the shower! Just had to make sure the shower was on my back and avoid it on the tummy area.

It would depend on hospital but was told showers were ok just not direct on incision as i had a TAH, i let the water on my back and patted dry the incision i cant remember if i had a blowdryer or not but was also given that advice to blowdry the incision and belly button area they stressed to make sure to let the water run over the incision but not full force on it.I took a shower the day i left hospital in the morning surgery was on a friday left on monday, they didnt tell me i had to shower but left it up to me, I did have a surgical nurse completely clean and put new guaze on my incision...looking back it was not that bad

Thank you so much for all the great information sisters!! I guess maybe I will bring some shampoo and soap just in case I am in the mood to shower.
