no more estrogen, now what

I had breast cancer in 2001 and was immediately taken off prem-pro after having taken 5 years. I take no estrogen and in fact take Tamoxifen which helps deplete the estrogen so that my breast cancer doesn't reoccur. On 2/24 I'm having a complete hysterectomy, removing ovaries as well. No cancer in sight. Any ideas on what I can do medically to prevent bone loss, osteoporosis, outrageous sweats and a hairy chin?

I am glad that you found us and posted to introduce yourself. We have had several members in the last couple of months who also are breast cancer survivors, and cannot take estrogen. I'm sorry that you are facing more surgery, but glad that it is not cancer-related.

Have you talked with your doctor about what preventative measures you will need to take to avoid osteoporosis? Are you taking extra calcium already? As far as the hairy chin goes, I'm and sympathizing, because I still have my ovaries (even though they don't put out many hormones any more) and I do take estrogen, and unfortunately, I'm still plucking the hairs from my chin, so that worry may not be related at all to estrogen.
