post op cystocele/rectocele/enterocele/urethral sling
I had these celes repaired on Monday, Jan 9 and came home yesterday. The major problem is a feeling like I need to have a bm, but I don't. I'm having them ok, but I still have a lot of painful pressure in the rectum. So much so that it hurts to stand or walk more than a minute or so. This feeling didn't happen when I had my TVH 3 years ago. Anybody else have this happen?

Am glad to see you're home again. Welcome back.
Have not experienced the pressure you describe....hope some experienced sisters come along soon.
However, since the pressure is causing you undue discomfort, it would be a good idea to run it past your surgeon.......physicians can be reached, or somebody in their group, at any time. Their office recording will usually direct you to an answering service.
Pamper yourself as much as possible and keep drinking that water. Am hoping you find resolution to your discomfort soon. s.Deb

post op cystocele/rectocele/enterocele/urethral sling
Hello!
I had cyctocele, rectocele, enterocele repairs and a vaginal vault suspension done 3/05. It did hurt like the dickens to stand or walk for more than a minute or two. It seemed to hurt worse getting up from a sitting position, and sitting hurt too! That pain lasted about a week. The only relief I got was to lay down on my side. I don't think I had the rectum pressure that you describe...If I were you, I'd give my doctor a call, just to be sure. Take care and let us know how you make out!

I also had my surgery on 9th and came home on Wed. I had a TAH plus all the celes repaired you had plus my vaginia wall reconstructed. I have had a lot of pressure in my bladder area. Wed was really bad with the pressure the pain medicine didn't even help it. The Dr nurse has called both days since I have been home and she told me it is spasms that everything has been moved around and is irated and hurts when it is releasing the urine. I have alittle pressure when I need a BM but after I have it it seems to go away shortly. I have been trying to drink alot of cran-apple juice and water It hasn't been quite as bad todayas it has been

I got "the works" done with my TAH. I now can feel that pressure, sometimes a whole day before I actually can go. I have an appt. Weds. and am going to ask my Doctor about it and I will let you know what she says.

Thanks to all; I had to come home with the foley bag and go back on Monday to see if I can be without it, so I'll ask about it then. He did tell me that for many women, the rectal part was worse than the others. Lying on my side is the only way I have any relief. Time is what it may take

I had my LAVH six months ago. Pretty much breezed though it with no discharge, little pain, few symptoms. Thought I was lucky, real lucky. BOOM. I got a rectocele. Just had the surgery four days ago to do the rectocele and post repair. He had to do the extra stitch to hook my bowel to my butt muscle and I know just exactly how you feel. I can't stand or sit for long. Can't find a comfortable position in which to lay down. I am laying on a heat pad on my side right now. Thank God for laptops. I forced myself to have a BM by drinking prune juice and downing stool softners, but everything is numb back there where the push comes from. So much pressure I can't stand to sit on the toilet! Theres a statement! My family is just counting down till Mom can do everything again. I am popping pain pills two at a time still. Wondering why this one is so much worse? Doctor tells me that I will probably be a repeat customer. Blames it on caffeine. Ihave lost 15 pounds since my LAVH. Thought I was doing so well - except for brain fog. Now i am depressed because I get a second helping of anesthesia to work off and my surgery is old news to everyone, I feel like Rodney Dangerfield!!! I know,he's dead! harhar but I don't get no respect!

Yeah, I know. At least I'm old (61) and don't have a family to get back to doing for. They tell you to walk and walk which is what I did when I had the TVH, and now I can't be upright for more than a minute or two. Since I'm pretty much back to normal BM wise, that's not what the pressure is from. Wonder how long this goes on?
