now my brain wakes up

Ok 1 day till surgery and now my brain wakes up.... I woke up this morning with 101 questions. Most I was able to look up or my dh helped me to remember that my Doc answered at pre-op but here are some I still don't have answers to. With no cervix or uteris do you still need a ob-gyn? do you still need a pap? can you still get a yeast infection? With a TVH do they give you a epsisotomy cut (SP?) like with having a big baby? Can you still get HPV? Can the fibroids come back inside the vagina with out cervix and uteris?
I know I can still ask my doc tomarrow before my surgery, but thought I would try the ever insightful sisters first
Thanks for any input

I can help w/a few of your questions. There is currently a post on the post-op page entitled "Why an annual exam" https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...3&page=1&pp=10
That may help with the pap questions. Yes you can still get a yeast infection. Many of the sisters have had them while recovering from surgery. I had a TVH and didn't have an epis. cut. Don't know if it depends on the person though. And I don't know the answers to your other questions. Sorry, but maybe the first few answers will help and I'm sure someone will reply with more information than me.

I had a vaginal surgery, and the doctor told me that with a big uterus (fibroids) that it was a possibility that I might have to have an episiotomy. He said, due to my extremely large uterus, first he would try to do the vaginal surgery, second he would try an episiotomy because sometimes it gives just enough extra room to be able to complete the vaginal surgery, third he might have to do an abdominal incision.

He ended up being able to do the vaginal without an episiotomy
