total or partial???

i have been diagnosed with a probable hydrosalpinx, ultrasounds were done about 6 weeks apart and it did not go away and now has abnormal changes(possible debris in fluid), my doc is recommending surgery but i have the choice(unless cancer is detected) of just taking the right ovary and tube or a total hysterectomy. my doc says why not take the whole thing but some of my friends are like why? my pre op is on march 17 and surgery is march 31. just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or suggestions. im really unsure what to do at this point. i am only 40 yrs old.

actually I would IMHO err on the side of caution . If there is any risk of cancer at all I would rather have it all out .. there is lessheartache in the long run

I am not that familiar with this condition (hydrosalpinx) but I did a keyword search here at Hystersisters - used the Search button at top of this screen - and found several other threads where this is discussed.

I'm providing a link to one of them where another woman also was considering what type of surgery to have. There is some good discussion on this thread and I hope it will help you. Keep us posted on what you decide and how you are doing.
