10 days post hysterectomy bleeding started and continues - Normal?
I didn't have any bleeding until day 10. I had my surgery on 12/9. I have been bleeding for about week now and looks like old darker blood. I am not sure for how long this will continue. Did any of you ladies start bleeding after first week and for how long?

Re: 10 days post hysterectomy bleeding started and continues - Normal?
We are all so different and you will find that we all heal differently. As far as bleeding post op, there is a wide range that falls under the "normal" category. Some women don't spot at all, some spot continuously for 6 weeks, and then there is every variation in between. The fact that your spotting is dark does mean old blood. This sounds normal to me. I had strange discharge post op. It came and went and the color varied from clear, pink, brown, dark red, bright red and orange. Yes, orange! Just when I thought it had stopped it began again bright red. There is a wound healing at the end of the vagina and it is normal for it have discharge and some bleeding. Soaking a pad in an hour or lots of bright red bleeding, increased pain or fever warrant an immediate call to your doctor or go to Emergency. If you are experiencing anything different from what your surgeon told you, or if you are worried, give the doctor a call for your peace of mind.
